Mancheeks on Venus

Stirring Tales of Saucy Adventure

Venus - once a far away illusive gleam in the sky, the morning star. The reality is far less idyllic. Within an experimental Cavorite Drive vessel I, Professor Mancheeks, embarked upon an expedition of science and discovery to this primitive world. Shipwrecked, I was marooned upon this wretched shore of steamy azure jungles, filled with monstrous beasts, where the sky glows emerald, pinkish clouds rain down corrosive torrents and a man can easily become lost in his own torrid fevers. Steadfast, I recorded images with my Ideograph and kept a journal in my Pneumatic Periodical Engine, which is what you have before you now.

I was not alone upon that dismal sphere. Venus has birthed its own savage tribes and races as well as visitors from Mars, other worlds and even from our own good Earth (although I am the only Englishman to set foot here and that is what counts at the end of the day). Just as loneliness was about to drive me to commit a terrible sin on my body, I met a young man whose name it appeared was also Venus and adventure soon came upon me.
