Art or Porn?

Back in the day, this used to be a big issue.  Then people were afraid that the internet would normalise porn to the extent that it would become everyday.  Weirdly enough this has kind of come to pass, but not in the alarm mongering 'think of the children' kind of way.

We are more used to porn, we can see basically anything we can dream up, and our capacity for shock isn't what it used to be.  On the other hand this has stepped up the standards for porn.   If you want to sell porn online you can just have two bored people fucking passionlessly.  You need porn with guts, with heart.

Maybe the latest taboo to be broken is affection.  Can we show people fucking who seem to like each other, and is it possible to convey this kind of connection?

This is the sort of thing on my mind as I draw Crooked Sabre.  Can I do more than draw rude pictures?  Does the comic format add more than just a series of porn pics? Can I do something with character, with the relationship between the characters, that does more than just show fucking?

Am I just fooling myself?  I'm a beginner at this stuff, let me know what  you think.
